DEERFIELD BEACH, FL.: People’s Trust Insurance made a $500,000 contribution to Step Up For Students, funding 71 scholarships for the 2020-21 school year through the state’s Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program in the 2020 tax year. People’s Trust has a long history of supporting children’s education efforts in the community.
People’s Trust Insurance Company is an ongoing partner of Step Up For Students, an organization that strives to empower parents of K-12 students, particularly those who lack necessary funds, by providing them with scholarships for their children to attend whatever public or private school the parents deem best-suited for their children.
“Our investment in children today not only helps secure their future, but it also impacts the future of the community and our society,” says George Schaeffer, Chief Executive Officer and President of People’s Trust Insurance. Schaeffer has a long history of supporting educational programs and students; providing an ongoing scholarship at FAU, donating laptops and printers to employee’s children, donating scholarships to the children of employees, and supporting the local school district with a variety of programs. Along with all he has done for Florida students, Schaeffer is also a donor to a variety of philanthropic organizations, including the Shoah Foundation at University of Southern California, who dedicate their time to making sure the voices and stories of Holocaust survivors are forever saved so future generations can be taught.
Step Up For Students is a non-profit, state-approve scholarship organization that helps administer four scholarships for Florida Students: the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program (FTC) for lower to middle income families, the Family Empowerment Scholarship(FES) for lower to middle income families and students with unique abilities (formerly Gardiner), the Hope Scholarship for public school students who are bullied or victims of violence, and the Reading Scholarship Accounts for public school students in third through fifth grade who struggle with reading.

About Step Up For Students
Step Up For Students is a nonprofit organization that helps administer the income-based Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program. Students who qualify for the national free or reduced-price lunch, or those who are homeless or in foster or out-of-home care, may qualify. The scholarship program provides tuition assistance to the private school of their parents’ choice or financial assistance to offset the transportation cost to an out-of-district public school. Since 2001, Step Up has awarded more than 784,000 Florida Tax Credit scholarships.
