DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – After more than 10 years without a direct hit from a major storm, some Floridians may not take the threat of hurricanes seriously anymore. That’s why Deerfield Beach-based People’s Trust Insurance Company released a comprehensive Hurricane Preparedness Guide to help homeowners prepare for hurricane season and urge them to get ready.
The Hurricane Preparedness Guide, distributed during the company’s Hurricane Preparedness Week and throughout hurricane season, equips Floridians with expert advice on storm preparation. The guide is a ready resource of emergency contacts; information about hurricane warnings, watches and evacuation; and safety tips for children, seniors and pets. It provides consumers with everything from hurricane "dos and don’ts" and a pre-storm checklist to a safety inventory worksheet to guide activity in the wake of a storm.
"Preparedness is what sets us apart from everyone else," said Adam Hasner, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer for People’s Trust Insurance. "Our ’Simply a Better Way’ approach means our policyholders will be first in line after a storm for seamless, no-hassle recovery. This guide gives our policyholders, and all homeowners, the information and tools they need to prepare their homes and families."
The guide is part of People’s Trust’s focus on upfront investment in preparedness and rapid response after damage strikes. In addition to a strong balance sheet and reinsurance program, the award-winning company offers exclusive access to its affiliated general contractor, the Rapid Response Team, consisting of more than 350 full-time construction technicians, 150 service trucks and vehicles and 12 response centers around the state equipped with millions of dollars’ worth of restoration supplies and equipment.
To further its mission of preparedness this week, People’s Trust is hosting renowned meteorologist and natural disaster preparedness consultant Cheryl Nelson, who will stress the urgency of hurricane preparedness to People’s Trust’s more than 300 Deerfield Beach-based employees on Friday, May 20 at the culmination of their weeklong effort to ensure employee preparedness.
In a statement on her website, Nelson states, "I understand the force of Mother Nature and I want Americans to be prepared to ultimately save lives. It is not a matter of IF another serious natural disaster will occur…it is a matter of WHEN."
"In addition to our ongoing training efforts, Cheryl’s presentation helps emphasize to our employees the importance of their work and underscore that this is why they’re here," said Hasner.
